The AI coach that catches my patterns before they spread
February 25, 2026 · translated from Russian
What I have been digging at and working on this past week.
My AI coach, what it is and how it works.
My problem:
I am very productive when there is structure. But I fall easily into repeating patterns that kill momentum:
Let's add this one too. I start task A, add B, then C, the scope balloons, nothing gets finished.
Scared to show it. There is a deadline, then pressure, then I postpone, then I avoid, then I go quiet.
Stuck in comfort. I get tired, disappear into games or social media, the time is gone.
What we built:
We set up an AI agent as a performance coach.
1. Every evening it asks five questions, three minutes of audio to answer.
2. It notices patterns before they grow.
3. It gives one concrete action for tomorrow.
How the process works. In the evening, around eight:
The agent says: daily review, five questions.
What got done? Deliverables only.
What got added along the way? Scope expansion?
What was hard or avoided? Avoidance?
How are you now? Energy or wrung out?
What is the first thing tomorrow? One step.
I answer in audio, about three minutes.
The agent gives a short read:
What is done, the facts.
Pattern: loop A, B, C or none.
Risk tomorrow, if there is one.
One action, a concrete step.
Today's example:
Done: 27 commands, Linear cleanup, docs.
Pattern: loop A, scope expansion, the cleanup was added mid-day.
Risk: fatigue leading to burnout tomorrow.
Action: start with the security audit, a checklist rather than creative work, plus one hour of recovery.
Why it works:
An objective view. I do not notice patterns while I am in them, the agent sees from outside.
Structure. Five questions every day is a ritual, not random reflection.
Short feedback. Ten lines, not an hour-long analysis.
Actionable. Not philosophy, but do X tomorrow, do not do Y.
Persistent memory. The agent remembers my patterns, I do not.
The result after two weeks of the experiment:
Scope expansion became visible immediately. I used to notice it three days later.
I catch avoidance earlier. If I said in the evening that I avoided X, I start with X in the morning.
Momentum is steadier. Less abandoning things halfway.
Consistently four to six hours of deep focused work.
In short: AI as a sports coach, but for work. It notices when your technique slips, corrects it, briefly and to the point.
